Square Hollow Sections
Square Hollow Sections, more frequently referred to by their acronym SHS, act as kind of a ‘middle of the road’ choice amongst Rectangular Hollow Sections and Circular Hollow Sections in terms of functionality and attributes.
SHS has a flat surface, similarly to RHS, encompassing the entire outer rim. This makes it a viable and economical choice for a hollow section that’s needed for joining, welding and anything that requires little to no edge preparation.
SHS, much the same as CHS, is symmetrical. The sides are all equilateral, ensuring an accurate fit with no give or irregularities inside or outside at all. Rather than a singular spherical shape, SHS takes the form of a hollow section with four exactly equal sides.
