Universal Beams
Universal beams are long structures with an I-shaped cross section, consisting of the flange (the horizontal elements of the I), and the web (the vertical element).

Our Structural Steel Beams
More frequently known as I Beams or Rolled Steel Joists (RSJ), are common types of beams used for large-scale building projects. It is rolled (either hot or cold) or extruded from a singular piece of structural steel. Universal steel beams are very efficient at carrying shear bending loads. It is mainly used to support floors when building extensions or openings in supporting walls, or in civil engineering.
We have a variety of universal steel beam sizes dependant on their positions in the build’s ceilings, walls and floors. We carry steel beams measuring a minimum of 127mm (height) x 76mm (width) x 13kg (weight). We can supply any universal beam up to 610 x 229 x 140kg per metre. Grades included are S235, S275 and S355.
Structural steel beams are integral to any building’s security; the entire stability of the building could be compromised if the steel is of a low quality. It is vital that builders and contractors ensure that the steel they are purchasing is of a high quality and is fully regulated, tested and reliable. The building’s structural safety is of paramount importance even when it comes to the smallest materials when compared to the overall build; structural steel has such a huge responsibility. In fact, it’s fair to say the structural steel beams could be considered the very bones of the building itself.
All of our universal steel beams are compliant with EN10025 standards.
